About Me

I’m Shannon A. Hunter, a strategic HR leader, mediator, and trusted advisor with over 25 years of experience helping organizations navigate complex people, communication, and workplace dynamics.

Throughout my career, I’ve built and scaled HR functions across the full employee lifecycle, from foundational HR systems in startup environments to complex support within large, matrixed organizations. My work is grounded in practical application, ensuring that strategy translates into real, sustainable outcomes.

As I worked more deeply with organizations, I recognized a consistent pattern: many of the most persistent workplace challenges are rooted in unresolved conflict and breakdowns in communication. That insight led me to expand my practice into mediation, where I now support individuals, teams, and organizations in resolving conflict through a structured, neutral, and solutions-oriented process.

At the core of my approach is the belief that progress happens when people feel heard, respected, and supported in psychologically safe environments. When trust is established, conversations shift, and that’s where real solutions become possible.

I bring that same approach to my work. My practice integrates HR leadership, mediation, and coaching to support organizations in strengthening communication, navigating conflict, and improving team dynamics, without losing sight of the human side of the business. 

 

I also collaborate with dispute resolution centers, the Better Business Bureau, business owners, and community organizations to support structured mediation and equip leaders with practical strategies and tools to proactively address conflict early, before they escalate into formal intervention.

I believe most conflict isn’t just about the issue, it’s about communication, perspective, and the need to feel heard and understood. I create a space where people can slow down, speak openly, and work through challenges in a way that feels productive, and not overwhelming. Whether I’m working with individuals, leaders, or organizations, my focus is on helping you move from tension and uncertainty toward clarity and practical next steps.

This work is not about forcing agreement. It’s about creating the conditions for better conversations, stronger understanding, and solutions that people can genuinely move forward with.

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR): Since 05/2001

  • Society of Human Resources Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP): Since 5/2015

  • Basic Mediation Certificate: 40 hours / Includes Ethics: 4 hours

  • Elder and Adult Care Mediation: 20 hours / Includes Ethics: 3 hours

  • Advanced Family, Divorce, Child Custody Mediation Certificate: 30 hours / Includes Domestic Violence: 4 hours

  • Parenting Coordinator and Facilitator Training:  18 hours

  • Basic Arbitration Certificate: 10 hours ​​

Conflict Resolution Experience:

I bring over 25 years of extensive experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, and conflict coaching, supporting leaders and teams across a range of industries. My work includes facilitating difficult conversations, conducting confidential investigations, and equipping leaders with practical strategies to address conflict proactively and effectively. I also support individuals and teams in navigating interpersonal challenges, strengthening communication, and creating more collaborative, productive environments.
